Shoot, it crashed FiveM is a somewhat inconsistent program. Some people find it just as stable as GTAO, other people find it to be exceptionally crash-happy. If the game crashes or you lose connection to the server, take a deep breath and reconnect. It sucks to no longer be a part of a race, especially if the race is getting good, but there's plenty more chances to battle in the future.

Why does turn one suck so much? I hate to say it, but turn 1 sucks because people suck. If you drive as hard as possible into turn 1, you will crash and you will lose places. If someone else drives as hard as possible into turn 1, you may crash and lose places. In general, turn 1 is one of the most frustrating parts of a race unless you handle it well.

If you ruin someone else's race, you deserve the same fate and while it will suck at the time you'll feel better about doing it than leaving someone behind. But! Think for a moment before you just stop in the middle of the road, make sure you choose a place to stop that isn't going to lead to issues for other racers. The way the server works is that certain players get the Racer role, which means that they're trusted enough to choose enjoyable races, get everyone to join in and generally make a good time for everyone. When do I go? Unlike in testing, rather than being immediately teleported to the track you will get a painfully long loading screen before you appear at the track. Like testing, you will be floating in the air. Just give W a little tap and you'll fall onto the track, landing in your starting position. You may see some people moving, but unless the host is giving instructions for people to have a specific setup, try not to drive around just yet! There'll be plenty of time for that in the race.
