Limiting FiveM to 60FPS without using Vsync
This guide goes over proper ways to limit FiveM to 60FPS without using VSync or affecting other games.
This below methods work for Windowed Borderless and Fullscreen.
Nvidia Control Panel
As of version 441.87, NVidia has finally introduced a configurable FPS limiter to the Nvidia Control Panel.
- Open the Nvidia Control Panel
- Go to "Manage 3D Settings"
- Select "Program Settings"
- Click "Add"
- In the window that opens, click "Browse" and navigate to %localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache\subprocess. If you've installed FiveM to a different different folder, replace %localappdata% with your installation path.
- Select FiveM_b3095_GTAProcess.exe and click Open.
- In the Program Settings tab, you'll see a list of settings. Find the "Max Frame Rate" option, click the setting, switch it to "On", and input your desired FPS (Anywhere between 58-62 should be fine).
- Click OK
- Click "Apply"
- If you had FiveM running while doing this, restart the game.
AMD Radeon Chill
(Thanks beta1hit for screens!)
- Select the Profile you've created for FiveM_b3095_GTAProcess.exe
- To Enable and Disable the frame limiter, you may press "F11" on your keyboard.
Note: F11 is the default hotkey for globally enabling Radeon Chill. This can be changed by the user under Global Settings → Hotkeys.
Configuring FiveM to display FPS
- Press F8 to pull up the console
- Type in cl_drawperf 1
- Press Enter
Your FiveM client will now display FPS and other diagnostics.
Using Steam to display FPS
Steam has a built in FPS counter you may use to show current in-game FPS.
- Go into Steam Settings.
- Under the "In-Game" tab.
- Tick "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".
- Under the "In-Game FPS counter" dropdown, select where you would like the counter to appear.
- Toggle "High Contrast Mode" if you would want the counter to be more visible.
- Click "OK" and relaunch FiveM.
